About | Isabella (Roya) Marzban

I’m a producer and filmmaker with experience across development, pre-production, production, and post-production for documentary, television, and digital projects. I’ve worked in a range of production roles, including producer, associate producer, co-director, cinematographer, writer, and editor.

My work includes producing and writing for PBS Origins and producing, co-directing, and serving as a co-cinematographer on Allensworth Rising: A Fight for Water, which was featured in the L.A. Times Short Docs 2025 lineup. I’ve also worked in broadcast news, independent production companies, and local digital newsrooms.

My work has been supported by film and reporting grants from the Pulitzer Center, Philomathia Foundation, and Berkeley Film Foundation. Allensworth Rising was nominated in the Documentary Short category at the 2026 DC Environmental Film Festival.

I’m also a graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where I earned my M.J. in Documentary Film.
